Preparation Guide: French Press
At Curador we want to help you prepare a delicious coffee with a French press in a schematic and simple way.
Ingredients:
- Fresh ground coffee (coarse grind)
- French Press
- Hot water (ideally between 90-96°C)
- Jug or cup
- Spoon (optional for mixing ground coffee)
Preparation:
1. Preheat the press:
- Rinse the French press with hot water to preheat it and keep the coffee hot longer. Discard the rinse water.
2. Add the ground coffee:
- Use 10-12 grams of ground coffee per 200 ml of water (adjust the ratio to your taste).
- Add the ground coffee to the French press.
3. Pour hot water:
- Pour hot water over the ground coffee, making sure to cover it completely.
- Gently stir the ground coffee with a spoon (optional).
4. Cover the press:
- Place the lid on the French press without pressing the plunger.
- Let the coffee sit for 4 minutes to allow the flavor to develop.
5. Press the plunger:
- Lower the plunger slowly and steadily to separate the ground coffee from the liquid.
- Avoid pressing too hard, as this can make the coffee bitter.
6. Serve and enjoy:
- Pour the freshly brewed coffee into your cup.
- Savor the aroma and flavor of your perfectly brewed French press coffee.
Additional Tips:
- Use freshly ground specialty coffee for the best flavor.
- Adjust the grind of your coffee to your preference. A coarser grind will result in a cleaner coffee, while a finer grind will produce a more full-bodied coffee.
- Experiment with different ratios of coffee and water to find your perfect combination.
- Pay attention to the water temperature. Water that is too hot can result in bitter coffee, while water that is too cold will not extract the full flavor of the coffee.
- Let the coffee sit for the recommended time for optimal extraction.
- Press the plunger gently to avoid bitter coffee.
- Enjoy the process of preparing French press coffee as a relaxing and rewarding experience.
