History

In the green hills of Miranda state, where the mist caresses the ancient trees and the murmur of fresh water runs through the paths, lies a farm with a history as deep as its soil: Finca Agua Fría.

Almost two centuries ago, when Venezuela was a well-kept secret on the world's coffee map, Agua Fría was already shipping its beans to Europe. It was a vibrant, proud farm, with coffee plantations that grew with the rhythm of the wind. But over time, and with the decline of Venezuelan coffee, the farm fell into oblivion: overgrown by weeds, silenced by neglect.

Until José Tomás Carrillo arrived.

His family recovered the farm in 1926, but it was he who, with passion and intuition, saw more than just fertile soil: he saw a dormant heritage deserving of awakening. With respect for traditions and an innovative mindset, he began rescuing Agua Fría, tree by tree, cherry by cherry. His goal was not just to grow coffee, but to give Venezuela back its voice in the world of specialty coffee.

Located 1,200 meters above sea level, Agua Fría enjoys a unique microclimate: cool, humid, and constant. This is an ideal environment for slow ripening, allowing for the development of deep and complex sensory profiles. José Tomás began experimenting with varieties like Pink Bourbon and Tabi, and adopted processes like anaerobic washing, uncommon in the region but essential for revealing the soul of the terroir.

Today, Agua Fría is not just a farm. It's a symbol of rebirth, a story that speaks to a country rediscovering its coffee identity. Each cup is a page in that history: ancient, alive, and ready to be shared.
