Based in Rome, Aliena is a young company founded by Dario Fociani, who took a step forward after leading the renowned specialty coffee shop Faro Rome .
According to Dario, Aliena's purpose is to make coffees for palates that seek to experience distinct flavours that are certainly different from the bitter roast profiles traditionally found in Italy. Another goal is to promote a focus on the work of coffee growing, respecting its flavours and not attacking it with excessive roasted notes.
"Selecting the beans is one of the most important tasks a roaster has to do," says Dario; it is not enough to evaluate prices.
Understanding that a unique coffee experience can only come from the source, but taking responsibility for respecting traceability, transparency and the challenges that each community faces in their respective origins is of utmost importance.
